Handmade Doll - Nancy

Is giorra cabhair Dé ná an doras.
The help of God is closer than the door.

Nancy is inspired by a wonderful neighbour and a lifelong friendship with Nellie. Her image is one that Teresa has painted on the award-winning walking trail in Fore, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. The children of the area, now grown themselves, remember her cottage as one where there was always a warm fire in the hearth, fresh bread on the table, and the sweetest apples in the valley

Description

The Nancy Doll is inspired by Nancy McDermott, who has given her name to a part of St Feichin’s Way in Fore, Co. Westmeath. Nancy and her friend Nellie were inseperable childhood friends, and they were often seen walking across the fields to school and between their cottages, which now names this wander through the fields on the greater loop of Fore. ‘Giorraíonn beirt bother – two shorten the road’.
